Main characters
Captain Phalari Davi (N/G)
Lv5 Kalimshari Free Trader Captain Davi is a free trader down on her luck as Coalition interests continue building their cargo operations across the Stream. She grew up on the New Eldelyn frontier - part of the first generation not to have known pre-Scream society - before inheriting the KSS Endeavour from her father. Honest and steadfast, Captain Davi is pragmatic but principled, even if it makes her a lonely soul on the galactic rim. Phalari is a cheery, free-spirited and ruthlessly competent pilot (FOH: The Opal Star, Battlefront, What You Leave Behind). Her carefree demeanor reveals strikingly little about her past as a Kalimshari fringer. As a trader, she has honed her skills in appraisal, cunning-work and negotiation, and saved the day more than once (FOH: When The Bough Breaks, Tacking Into the Wind). Her bubbly personality and soft heart often belies her sheer determination and her ability to lead a team of adventurers (FOH: Homecoming, What You Leave Behind). She is also one of the most principled members of the crew, who rely upon her for guidance in tormented times and feels genuine guilt at taking life unduly (FOH: The Opal Star). Captain Davi appears in 17 out of 17 episodes. |
Chief Engineer Khari Sare (N/G)
Lv5 Mewei Mechanic A once unexceptional Mewei gifted with varied but unremarkable academic prowess, Sare worked as a tech assistant on an Acorn for years, though her solutions are often that of a free thinking and sometimes at odds against rigid Mewei convention. Her high principles of safeguarding the Stream against maltech both synergize and clash with her life as a Starlyft privateer. Khari is a mostly quiet member of the crew, who prefers to spend her time fixing the Endeavour and fixating over engineering and computer-related issues. (FOH: Shadows of Azim, Honour Amongst Thieves). She is strikingly adept at hacking and software design, and has developed tools that pour over entire databases in hours (FOH: What You Leave Behind, The Humblest Walk The High Road). She built herself a robot companion, Maggie, which she uses in battle to avoid coming into direct fire as well as for remote exploration (FOH: The Opal Star, The Road Most Travelled, The Die Is Cast). Despite her propensity to avoid combat, Khari can be uncanny, unpredictable, and fearless enough to intimidate and threaten a crew of Hhrot juvies (FOH: What Angel Wakes Me). She is principled, though she is not beyond hurting enemies she considers harmful or despicable (FOH: The Opal Star). As a Mewei agent, Khari is also knowlegable about a variety of topics, and has some training in mysticism, which has come in handy a few times in her adventures (FOH: Battlefront). She does not reject outside technology outright, but shows a more pragmatic and conservative approach to her study (FOH: What You Leave Behind). Engineer Khari Sare appears in 17 out of 17 episodes. |
Tactical Officer Zarama (C/N)
Lv5 Zaalan Vanguard A gruff and bitter Zaalan whose family on New Xionia was obliterated by a bigger clan of Coaliton-allied warlords, Zarama has sought solace and refuge in the midst of the Bogwynne. For long has she trained in the ways of the Vanguard, an outlet to channel and focus her anger. Perhaps in spite of her cherised Cause, she wanders as a free mercenary, hoping the right job for revenge comes along. As a trained guerilla operative, Zarama has often been sceptical of the party's ability to carry out their mission. (FOH : Homecoming, Tacking into the Wind). Zarama comes across as standoffish and gruff, and has rebuffed many attempts at small talk over her weeks aboard the ship (FOH: Battlefront, The Die is Cast). Despite her reservations, she has stuck with the crew, and performs extremely well as a skilled fighter making use of her one spell, Entropic Strike, and of her expertise with explosives to save the day (FOH: The Die Is Cast). She has grown protective of Captain Davi, taking severe wounds to protect her teammates from harm and save them from the brink of death (FOH: The Road Most Travelled, What You Leave Behind) and has gained some respect for her Hiderid teammates, despite her general hatred of the Coalition (FOH: The Humblest Walk The High Road). Zarama appears in 9 out of 17 episodes, debuting in FOH: Homecoming. |
Security and Comm Officer Kil Naykin (L/E)
Lv5 Hiderid Operative An easy-going Hiderid with a rather shady and secretive past, Kil is one of Starlyft's top "salvage acquisition specialists". Often the sensible foil to her more idealistic crewmates, she tempers her natural urges to hoard and acquire profit with a sense of responsibility. Despite her loyalties to the laws of a much maligned and jingoistic Coalition, and her rather traditional and conservative attitude to wealth, she tends to make a strong point of refusing prejudice, demanding accountability, and distance herself from the more extreme practices of her people. She harbours about her a sense of quiet melancholy, a hint of the battle of values within her methodical mind. For a Hiderid, Kil has proven herself loyal to the Endeavour, despite her ties to the Coalition (FOH: The Die is Cast). She has deployed her considerable skills as an operative to aid the crew in securing their prize (FOH: Shadows of Azim, When the Bough Breaks, What You Leave Behind). She is brave and fearless, going so far as to offering to take whole bounties, fully knowing the consequences, to spare her friends and challenge the excesses of her own people (FOH: The Humblest Walk The High Road). Even so, Kil remains a Hiderid, skilled at negotiating and securing the best out of any contract (FOH: From On High, Homecoming, Tacking into the Wind, The Humblest Walk The High Road). She is torn between her friendship with the crew and anguishing questions aimed at her beloved Coalition, which has led her to leave the party to seek answers and demand accountability (FOH: Battlefront, The Die is Cast), eventually forming a small party of her own and rejoining the main cast in the bowels of the accursed Ninazu barge of the dead (FOH: What You Leave Behind). She sometimes makes decisions on her own for the sake of the party, sometimes coming in mild conflict with Captain Davi (FOH: What Angel Wakes Me) Kil has a long-standing addiction to Coalition Root Beer (FOH: Homecoming, The Road Most Travelled) and is a spring of flowery Hiderid language (FOH: What Angel Wakes Me). Kil appears in 14 out of 17 episodes, all but Battlefront and much of The Die Is Cast. |
