Overview
The Zaalan Tribal Rim is located on the spinward edge of the Stream, beyond the forbidding frontier of the Serine Gap. Zaalans fleeing the early Coalition found refuge there 100 cycles ago, settling the worlds of New Xionia as well as Teroshe.
There are few known developments in this quiet area of the Stream. Zaalans leaders on Nagdath are paralyzed by indecision even as their people are losing their grasp on space-era technology and fast regressing to pre-spaceflight status. To combat this, Bogwynne Zaalans have established a stronghold on the world of Teroshe. Scrapyards, satellites and barely functioning, hastily built habitats are staples of the Nagdath and Valyash systems. |
Because this sector is remote and out of the way, it has become a haven for recluses, outlaws and Kalimshari exiles. Known activity in this sector is concentrated by Ophoni and Kalimshari interests on the toxic world Seryn-IV. Other organizations maintain semi-secret facilities on the rim, such as Starlyft's Station 13, or the gaggle of commercial and military Coalition outposts in the Denesh system.
There are a lot of untapped resources and uncharted alien ruins in the Rim. Motivated by profit, the Hiderid are gradually encroaching on Zaalan space. The technological gap between the two factions widens day after day, with the Stream at large broadly oblivious to the Zaalan plight. Analysts predict that the Rim may become a hotspot of terrorist activity, or even outright warfare between the Zaalans and the Coalition, should they mishandle an appropriation of Nagdath many believe inevitable.
