Landmarks of the Free Zaalan Tribes
Trade hubs of all kinds are important pieces that pin together the vital Zaalan trade network. The Ajil League tends to maintain many smaller outposts, though some powerful colonies also own trade starbases of their own. Typically, one can expect a trade base to provide repairs, refuels, and relief - as well as credits for those so inclined.
The Pillars of XioniaXionian Traverse > Xionia > L4 orbital point of 3rd planet
Built in 4059 // Ward of Clans Ajil & Yarkand // Population : 12.325.214
The trade hub and starport orbiting Yang Lia is a major refuel point, especially for agri-fleets from the breadbasket world Murgori. Established in 4059 and modularly expanding since then, it currently handles six spaceports -one of them dedicated to shuttling goods to and from Yang Lia, and another strictly for in-system Helium-3 mining operations. The Ajil League, the premier force in space shipping, keeps a subsidiary HQ there. Because of its central location, the anti-piracy corvette fleet of Clan Qesir also operates from the Pillars, leading to the creation of mighty fleetyards and the upcoming establishment of a Qesir astropath switchboard.

Valyash Fleet AcademyLocal Cluster > Valyash > Geostationary orbit of 2nd planet
Built in 4015 // Ward of Clan Ajil // Population : 2.214.102
Valyash Fleet Academy is a military starbase and fleetyard complex orbiting Valyash II. The Academy is maintained conjointly by most clans, under the blessing of the Assembly, and trains officers and enlisted personnel that end up in various civilian or military navies across Zaalan space. The Academy shares the five-mile long starport with the Valyash Fleetyards - the premier Zaalan ship builders, taking advantage of the minerals trade and of the heavy manufacturing industry on Nag'Dath/Reunion. VFA is located on the trade route between the Traverse and the homeworld, and features two busy trade hubs as well as the Assembly's resource stockpiles.

The Vigils are the furthermost yet most crucial defense line of Zaalan space. They are three powerful star fortresses, strategically placed at chokepoints, that control and protect inner Zaalan space from the xenos who would dare push back against the manifest destiny of the Zaalan people.
Dawn VigilAzuka's Warpath > Korgas > L5 point of 4th planet
Built in 4032 // Ward of Clan Hlinka // Population : 325.120
The core of this sleek star fortress was initially built in orbit of Kaunis, on the edge of the Xionian Traverse, to keep the rimward border from possible invaders. In the wake of the first war against the Tonaak, a full Qesir fleet traveled with modules of the station and displaced it to the freshly taken Korgas system, where it now keeps watch against any possible Tonaak invasion. This Vigil is equipped with fleetyards, anchorages and full repair facilities, and is currently administered by Clan Hlinka.

Dusk VigilXionian Traverse > Exodia > L5 point of 7th planet
Built in 4025 // Ward of Clan Cheimka // Population : 751.201
The Dusk Vigil started as a trading enclave for the Grand Exchange, a short-lived initiative at trading with the xeno Cartel beyond. Instead of being decommissioned, it was turned into a border fort, though it was initially unable to stem the flow of illegal trade from both Cartel and Zaalan elements that ran the blockade at Exodia. During the Cartel Wars, the Dusk Vigil was famously sidestepped by an invading Cartel fleet that only met its demise in orbit of Murgori. Since then, the starport has been greatly improved - but its inconvenient orbit has led its caretakers to build planetary fortifications in the system to palliate the Vigil's inherent design flaws.

Stone VigilHlinka Verge > Wolf 39 > Stellar orbit
Built in 4278 // Ward of Clans Hlinka & Yarkand // Population : 145.669
The more recent Vigil to date, this starport is still under construction and guards the border with the Concord. As the closest useful chokepoint, it sits strategically between Assembly space and the autonomous Yarkand sector. Its Promenade skyways act as a thriving trade hub, while outlying parts of the station provide fleetyards and defences. Around the Stone Vigil, twelve smaller automated fortresses trail in orbit. The Vigil is being built in the Wolf 39 system - which will be remembered as the star system where Hlinka and Cheimka fleets were nearly destroyed, until the AI Concord started "glitching out" and retreated.

The Monasteries are hallowed constructs found by daring explorers and claimed by the House of Tides in the name of unity and shared Zaalan faith. These highly advanced bases have been settled, temples built, and all profits from tithes go towards learning and exploration of these enigmatic constructs.
Darkhan MonasteryHlinka Verge > Dzhambul > Geostationary orbit of 5th planet
Settled in 4278 // Ward of the House of Tides // Population : 54.256 (124.256 Gul-Ur)
A strange starbase on the rim of a black hole, the Darkhan Monastery was revealed when the AI Concord withdrew. While most of the station has been abandonned, its core is inhabited by the Gul-Ur, a race far more advanced than the Zaala, remnants of a once galactic empire that has since long collapsed.. An agreement was reached where the spiritual House of Tides occupies the empty levels as a monastery and a home for outcast psionics, while the Gul-Ur allow select Zaalan scientists to experience some of their advanced technology. Some Zaalans find this xeno presence unnerving, but what exactly are they holding back?

The Forbidden FortressXionian Traverse > Briellix > Stellar orbit
Settled in [classified] // Ward of the House of Tides // Population : [classified]
Very few ships that jump on the one hyperlane to Briellix end up never returning. Nobody knows what the House of Tides is doing in the Forbidden Fortress, a construct far older than the Zaala themselves, and which has been deemed off-limits after the destruction of an entire Cheimka fleet in barely a few hits. A House cult is said to have breached and inhabited the Fortress for some time, though the station's history and true purpose remain, to this day, the stuff of conspiracy theories and superstition. An Assembly project aims to breach deeper into the strange fortress and uncover their secrets.

Holden RiftAzuka's Warpath > Holden > around the 3rd planet
The Holden Rift is a trinary star system that also happens to be a strategic cornerstone of Zaalan space - with hyperlanes leading into the Xionian Traverse, along Azuka's Warpath to Tonaak space, and into former Concord space. Because of the immense amount of energy being generated, a group of warriors and engineers has posited the creation of Dyson rings to further protect and stake Zaalan claims beyond the Traverse, as well as to harvest the immense amount of solar energy generated by the three stars. Only preliminary work has been conducted so far - the sheer cost in manufactured alloys and raw minerals is far more than has so far ever been produced by the Zaalan civilization as a whole - but visionaries are not daunted by the potential rewards of the first genuine arcology in space.
